After the success of Smoke ‘Us being launched I was keen to keep the momentum going and was on the look out for another small business to help develop and grow by conceptualising and implementing marketing strategies. This was when I discovered CancerPal. CancerPal was a small business specialising in providing Care Boxes and products to help people going through cancer treatment. At the time, my Aunt Wendy was going through treatment and therefore my interest was triggered. Jo Riley, founding director of CancerPal had a great concept, had done considerable research and development for the company.

The brief for CancerPal was very different to Smoke ‘Us. CancerPal already had a logo and brand guidelines. What it needed was a Marketing Strategy to take the business forwards. The first thing we decided to tackle was photography, being a small new company there was no budget available for professional photography so we had to crack on and do it all ourselves! The products available had been carefully researched to ensure that they had been designed specifically and recommended by those going through treatment. What we needed to do was build an awareness and visibility campaign so that more people were aware of CancerPal as a company.

As well as developing the product range on offer for both the market place and the Care Box range, we needed a voice on social media. We ensured we were regularly posting our activities on social media to show developments in both the company and also highlighting hints and tips for both patients and their loved ones. Our social media voice is helpful, informative and supportive.

C Adams Marketing now manages professional photoshoots for the Care Boxes with Helen Joseph our photographer to make sure the photography the CancerPal website does credit to the great products contained within the care boxes.

Fast forward four years and CancerPal is going from strength to strength. The strategies and communications channels we developed have helped to put the company at the forefront of Cancer Care products.

Cancer can be a difficult subject to deal with and CancerPal is an absolute goldmine of information as a result of years and years of hard work, research and development. As a result CancerPal has literally helped thousands of people going through cancer treatment.
